BRAND: Comedy Central

PROJECT: “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” season nine launch.

OBJECTIVE: Write a clever creative only using clips from season nine.

NOTES/CAVEATS: I saw this season through the lens of “Cheers,” since “Paddy’s Pub” in the show is often featured as a character itself. The character of “Charlie” writes a song praising the pub, which I used as a through-line with graphics. The ultimate message is “Paddy’s Pub is Back…And NOBODY Knows your name!”

BRAND: Comedy Central

PROJECT: New York Comedy Festival

OBJECTIVE:  Promote the New York Comedy Festival using creative copy and clever bites from featured comedians.

NOTES/CAVEATS: I had to keep the tone sponsor-friendly and ensure that I used client-approved images of the talent.

BRAND:  WEtv/AMC Networks

PROJECT: Bridezillas Launch VS. Game of Thrones

OBJECTIVE: Create an original idea for the Bridezillas launch that is entertaining, topical, and relevant.

NOTES/CAVEATS: Game of Thrones had just ended on HBO. I chose to take advantage of that opportunity and create copy, use sound bites, as well as graphics, stock footage, and After Effects to achieve the desired outcome. This promo was so successful online that the network began to air it on live linear programming.

PROJECT: Bridezillas 1203 Dueling Cousins Episodic

OBJECTIVE: Create a themed episodic promo for episode #1203 featuring two wild cousins who are competing to have the best wedding.

NOTES/CAVEATS: I used a classical track to drive the pacing and the story. The copy was playful and ironic, leaning heavily into the drama of the narrative.

BRAND: Pocket FM

PROJECT: Insta Millionaire “Portrait”

OBJECTIVE: Create an original animated promo with an original storyline to promote the audio series “Instant Millionaire.”

NOTES/CAVEATS: The promo had to be written in the “Pocket FM Style,” meaning it had to be hyperbolic, over-dramatic and over-the top. This promo was widely considered one of the most successful of the whole series, garnering a download rate that equaled ninety cents to produce, backed by a very powerful return on investment.

PROJECT: Saving Nora Prequel “Birthday Party”

OBJECTIVE: Create a “prequel” promo to the already existing “Saving Nora” audio series storyline. Must be a minimum of two minutes in length. Creative liberties were allowed because this story did not yet exist.

NOTES/CAVEATS: I was instructed to tell the story in a “telenovela” format. This meant heavy narration, over-the-top drama, faint-inducing cliffhangers, and teases for what will come ahead in the narrative.

BRAND: Fuse Energy Drinks

PROJECT: The Roast of Fuse

OBJECTIVE: Create a “conversational style” concept to “roast” the brand.

NOTES/CAVEATS: I was instructed to write this as if I were standing at a podium and the Fuse Brand was a physical presence that I would be playfully teasing.
